Emmanuel holds degrees from a management school in Marseille and the Institut Français de Journalisme (IFJ) in Paris. After six years as a business journalist in the print media in France, he founded and headed the Latin America bureau of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) in Rio de Janeiro, where he led the organisation's work across the region for more than seven years. Since moving to Brazil in 2014, he has become a recognized specialist in press freedom issues in Latin America. He currently coordinates the SafeBox Network in Latin America and in the Eastern Europe/Central Asia region for Forbidden stories, supporting journalists at risk and strengthening media safety across these regions. He also works as an investigative journalist at Forbidden Stories.
