Workshop: Geolocation

In today’s fast-moving information environment, fact-checkers need reliable ways to verify online content. Geolocation, identifying where a photo or video was taken, is a powerful tool for confirming authenticity and exposing disinformation.In this session, a DFRLab expert will explain the principles behind geolocation, showcase practical case studies of its application in investigative and fact-checking work, and introduce accessible tools that make the process more efficient. 

Participants will also explore how geolocation contributes to verifying online content, countering disinformation, and strengthening digital investigations. The workshop concludes with a practical exercise, giving attendees the chance to apply their new knowledge and practice essential verification skills in a guided setting.
